We are not a global corporation but we do believe that we can make a difference to this planet. Sustainable manufacturing is a key pillar at Charles Paige Atelier - from our raw materials to each garment that is made. We are able to not only make you look good, but do good for Mother Nature.

Below we highlight some of the sustainable initiatives we pride ourselves on at Charles Paige Atelier.

One Order at a Time

We do not hold any stock or inventory. Each garment we make is made at the request of our clients. From scratch. With each garment being cut by hand, we are able to minimize fabric usage overall compared to machine cut garments.

Without inventory there is no end of season “dead stock” that goes to waste.

Dormeuil: Ensuring Nature’s equilibrium

The House of Dormeuil, one of the world’s finest fabric mills, places its social and environmental philosophy at the forefront of its business. Their sustainability practices start at source of its raw materials, and come full circle by combining ancestral fabric knowledge with modern technological development to ensure nature is at an equilibrium.

Dormeuil promotes a special ethical approach to protect the planet by ensuring animal and human welfare, natural farming practices, environmental impact, and most recently, traceability.

Dormeuil’s most recent collections; Tonik Wool and Echo are 100% traceable to guarantee the house’s ethical approach to sustainability. With the use of Blockchain technology, clients are able to trace the cloth they are wearing back to the individual sheep, its habitat, who was responsible for sheering it, all the way to the end of the production process.

In a typical Dormeuil twist, they have combined this promise to Mother Nature with the latest finishing technology. Echo provides natural stretch and water repellency to create a truly unique fabric and garment.

Loro Piana: Safeguarding the Environment

Achieving quality whilst ensuring the lowest possible impact on the environment is easier said than done. Fabric production, especially with the many steps to create luxury cloth, is incredibly power and water intensive. Loro Piana has treated wastewater onsite at its Quarona facility since 1987, and more recently built Mongolia’s first wastewater treatment facility in 2012, where all of its fine cashmere is sourced.

The Italian facility also boasts a large array of solar photovoltaic systems to reduce the quantity of C02 it produces. By creating their own energy and using cogeneration systems to efficiently integrate power supplied by the local grid.

Loro Piana has long been a pioneer of the fashion industry’s best practices and continue to set the benchmark in clean energy and preserving nature’s most vital resource.
