Known as arguably the world’s most luxurious brand, the Loro Piana family started as humble wool merchants at the foot of the Italian alps and to this day remain at the forefront of luxury fabrics. The production process is completely vertically integrated from wool to the final cloth, with the highest attention to detail leading to paramount fabrics.
Albeit recognized for their cashmere, it is Loro Piana’s technical cloths that set them apart; Rain System© and Storm System© use propriety finishing to make the lightest of cloth water, dust and wind resistant.
Founded in 1910, Zegna’s famed mill has been the backbone for the iconic menswear brand for over 100 years and has been family owned for over four generations. As passionate textile producers, Zegna provides a commitment to quality through the use of modern technology and artisan craftsmanship, all while minimizing the environmental footprint of production.
Zegna’s Trofeo or “trophy” collection remains its most prized and versatile collection to this day, featuring iconic suiting fabrics woven from award winning superfine Australian wool.
The House of Dormeuil, although much smaller that its competitors, is a mill founded on the rare and luxurious. Family owned, designed in Paris and milled in England, Dominic Dormeuil personally searches the globe for the rarest fabrics to create unrivaled blends of cloth with limited availability. In most cases, only the highest quality fiber is taken from the animal and carefully carded, dyed, spun and woven to create unique fabrics.
Dormeuil has pioneered the quintessential “travel” fabric, Exel Blue manipulates the weave of pure Merino wool to create natural stretch in the final cloth. This leads to a comfortable final garment with impressive drape whilst retaining its shape over time.
Headquartered in Naples, Italy since 1920, Ariston has become one of the world’s most famous cloth merchants. Known for their bold patterns and vibrant colors, they offer a healthy selection of seasonal suiting, blazers and trousers. If you are looking to stand out in a crowd, an Ariston fabric for your suit or jacket should not be missed.
Ariston’s blazer and jacket designs truly set them apart from their competitors, in particular, their Spring/Summer offering. A wide selection of solid wool, silk, mohair and linen blends (Blazers) is contrasted with bold windowpanes and bright glenplaids (J-Worsted and Waves).
Another fabric merchant based out of Naples, Caccioppoli is still family run and owned, now into its fourth generation. They design in house and mill their fabrics in both Italy and England. Caccioppoli offers a wide range of cloth, including suiting, black tie, jacketing, outerwear, linens, tweeds and a very beautiful shirting assortment.
Each season the merchant releases two limited edition collections: one of suits and, the other of jackets and trousers. It features the latest designs and styles direct from Italy in the ideal seasonal weights and compositions.
